The founding members of the coalition are Railway Children Africa, UNICEF, Save the Children, Pamoja Leo and two academics from the University of Dar es Salaam, and the Open University.

These organizations and individuals outlined the vision, mission and the objectives of the coalition.

Our experience, backed up by extensive evidence and research, highlights that children will have the best opportunities to thrive if they are raised in a secure, loving family environment.

Our aim is to develop systems where families, and extended families, are given all the support they need to create that secure, loving environment. Where this is absolutely not possible, we are advocating for the enhancement and prioritization of alternative family-based care as the go to solution; both when children need a safe place to stay temporarily, or a permanent home.
